Cooking with Italian Grandmothers features the recipes, techniques, and anecdotes of twelve grandmothers around Italy, each of whom welcomed Jessica into her kitchen to share both favorite dishes and personal wisdoms. From the dramatic winter shores of Ustica to the blooming hills of Tuscany in the spring, readers will journey though Italy's most diverse regions and seasons to discover the country's most delectable dishes and meet the storied women who make them. Part travel diary, part photo essay, part cookbook, with 296 pages and over 100 time-honored recipes, Cooking with Italian Grandmothers received an IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) Award and was named Best Italian Cookbook of 2010 by Publishers Weekly.
"19 Pictures 22 Recipes”, by Paola Ferrario, is a meditation on food, photography, and human capability. Selecting from a personal archive of pictures found at flea markets and antique shops around the world, Ferrario attaches to each image a brief story or memoir, and concludes each entry with a recipe. Mainly family recipes gathered from Ferrario’s Italian childhood, these are simple foods that anyone with the wish to do so can prepare. Paola wrote and photographed the Cooking with Grandmothers piece on Ambrogina, her grandmother. You can purchase the book on her website, here.
